Mardik Martin migrated from Baghdad to NYC. A stranger to this country he befriended Martin Scorcese, started the film department in his 20's, rose to stardom, and then burned out and later reinvented himself as a beloved screenwriting teacher at USC. 

Mardik Martin's Credits include : Mean Streets, Raging Bull, New York New York, The Last Waltz, and many others.

"Nerdcore Rising" is a documentary feature about Nerdcore hip hop starring the godfather of the genre, MC Frontalot, along with Weird Al Yankovic, Prince Paul of De La Soul, Brian Posehn, Tycho & Gabe and a host of other nerd celebrities. The movie premiered at theSouth by Southwest Film Festival to sold-out houses and was quickly named a "hilarious & delightful" Best of Fest pick by Salon while the Boston Herald called it "a riot from the first scene."
